Nova Institute is a private Canadian research centre focused on developing innovative clean technology and medical devices. We are planning to expand into international markets and are seeking a VP of International Relations and Marketing for a 3 year project position to help us in this process.

The VP of International Relations and Marketing will work to build up and supervise our international business development and marketing teams and help plan our international market entry strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • In-house counsel and advisor in international business law and legal procedures in Asian and European markets.
  • Build our international network and communicate with potential partners in Asia, Middle East, and Europe
  • Identify government incentives and beneficial trade agreements
  • Lead our international business development team in forming an international market entry plan and identifying the best foreign markets for our first international launch.
  • Lead our international marketing team in our first international product launch.

Requirements:

This role will be central to our market strategy in Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East, strong language and cultural skills are therefore essential.

  • Minimum Bachelor degree in in jurisprudence with courses in international law, EU law, WTO law, political science, business law, and international commerce arbitration.
  • Professional network in Asia and Middle East
  • Minimum 3 years experience in international trade
  • Minimum 2 years experience with public relations and marketing
  • Strong knowledge of Chinese professional culture and language
  • Fluent English, French, and Russian

  • Are enrolled in a mechanical engineering co-op program or similar
  • Have experience and interest in 3D modelling and 3D printing
  • Have experience and interest in design engineering and design for manufacturing
  • Are great at taking initiative
  • Communicate well with team mates remote and in person
  • Speak and write English at a professional level. 
  • Have amazing report writing skills.
  • Are eager to help build the technology of the future.

It is also great if you:

  • Understand different production processes and the limitations they impose on design.

The Department of Medical Devices at Nova Institute provides Ontario Made medical grade face masks to help keep healthcare workers safe and pull Canada through the pandemic. We have also developed a 100% biodegradable face mask that meets the highest standards of Health Canada. 

We are looking for an Executive Assistant to our VP of Medical Devices

Location: Oakville, ON

Day to day tasks:

  • Answer calls, emails, and book meetings (zoom, calls, and in-person).
  • Strategically plan and prioritize to make the best use of the VP’s time.
  • Arrange the VP’s calendar schedule including personal reminders for prayer times and gym.
  • Ad hoc administrative tasks such as preparing reports, taking notes, arrange deliveries, and any day to day tasks the VP needs help with.
  • Manage the VP’s email inbox and draft and send emails when requested.
  • Keep track of documentation, data sheets, and test reports and ensure they are available for the VP when requested.

The executive assistant may be required to work non-traditional hours and extended hours.

As manufacturers of PPE we are an essential service, and the position may require both in-person and remote work, including travelling to client locations.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is eager to learn and work in a fast paced start-up business environment
  • Has excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to anticipate what the VP needs at all times.
  • Has experience in communicating with executives and clients.
  • Possess a high sense of urgency, yet able to stay calm under pressure
  • Are proficient with Zoom and Microsoft Office
  • Enjoys a casual work environment while keeping a high degree of professionalism and maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Has a driver’s license
  • Do not think any job is too small or trivial, and realize that even the act of bringing coffee at the right time can be essential for smooth operation of the business.
  • Are able to follow instructions, even when instructions are vague.

It would also be awesome if you:

  • Have experience in business development, sales, marketing, and/or communicating with large business clients.
  • Have experience from the medical device field.

Are you an electrical engineering student and want to use your superpowers to shape the future of clean energy?

We are looking for two electrical engineering Co-op students for an exciting clean-tech project!

The position is a paid 4 months full-time co-op placement starting June 15.

You must currently be enrolled at a university or college in an electrical engineering program.

Qualifications (In priority):

  • Enrolled in Electrical Engineering or similar at a University or College.
  • Be curious
  • Like to read research papers
  • Knowledge about circuit design
  • Interest in kinetic energy harvesting

It would also be awesome if you:

  • Have knowledge about dielectric elastomers or other Electroactive Polymers (EAP’s)
  • Have practical lab experience
  • Have experience in circuit design
  • Have knowledge in the safe operation of high voltage circuits

If that last list does not apply to you, no worries, interest goes a long way, and we are good at teaching =)

Job activities:

  • Read and summarize research papers
  • Aid lead researcher in testing electrical characteristics of certain materials
